1. DIRECT Translation

A) Borrowing: we borrow the same words, like 'computer' from the Source Language, SL into the Target Language; TL you are just transliterating them. And then you have

B) Calque: 'Beer Garden is a calque of the German Biergarten' | 'Adam's Apple is a calque of the French pomme d'Adam' | "Calque is translating it word for word. And the third one is

C) Literal Translation: If the literal translation is awkward, then you go for OBLIQUE Translation.

2. OBLIQUE Translation

In Oblique Translation, there are four procedures.

A) TRANSPOSITION, where you change from Noun to Verb.

B) MODULATION

, where you are changing your Point Of View, POV, here. it is simple to "It is not difficult." In Modulation, you change from "Supernym to Hyperordinate" eg like Mercedes into a car, and also from Abstract noun into Concrete, or PASSIVE into ACTIVE, Effect to Cause, or a Part to the Whole.

C) EQUIVALENCE: IDIOMATIC translation, from SL IDIOM into TL IDIOM. And the fourth is

D) ADAPTION, instead of saying 'Cricket' into FRENCH, you are saying 'Tour de France'.
